Phil (Steve Carell) and Claire Foster (Tina Fey) are an ordinary couple who have been married for several years and living in suburban New Jersey. Their days consist of them taking care of their two kids, going to work, coming home, and going to bed. To keep the spark in their marriage, once a week they have a "date night," where they leave the kids with the same babysitter and have the same dinner at the same steakhouse, with little to no romance.
After seeing two of their best friends, another married couple with kids split apart from living the same life they themselves lead, Phil and Claire begin to fear what may lie ahead: a state of bland indifference and eventual separation. They need a REAL date night.
Therefore, when date night comes Phil decides to do something different by taking Claire into Manhattan to the city's hottest new restaurant, without reservation. What happens next is a wild ride that goes hilariously awry, as they embark on a dangerous series of crazy adventures to save their lives and their marriage.
A case of mistaken identity sets off an outrageous chain of events involving small-time thieves, big-city mobsters, corrupt cops and a crazed cabbie, as the Fosters' "date night" turns into a wild ride they will never forget! In addition, there is the funniest pole-dancing scene ever.
